Dexclock

The Dexclock application combines and puts together two of your needs: the need to have a beautiful wallpaper on your desktop and the need to stay on top of the time. The application lets you customize your desktop with beautiful wallpaper clocks. These wallpapers, besides displaying some interesting, cool, or cute graphics, also display the current time (and date, but that depends on the wallpaper clock design).

Getting Dexclock up and running is a standard, straightforward process really: download a small executable, run it, follow the onscreen instructions presented by a setup wizard. There are two things that stand out about the installation process and they should be mentioned here. The first one is that Dexclock provides extensive language support; you can install the application in English, French, Italian, Russian, Turkish, and many others. The second is that during the installation you will be asked to install Hotspot Shield. You can opt out if installing this additional software.

Launch Dexclock and you will notice a new icon in the system tray. Double click the icon and you will be presented with a window that lets you choose an available wallpaper clock, specify the wallpaper clock’s position, and change the folder where the wallpaper clocks are stored. Right click the icon and you will be presented with a context menu that, among other things, lets you access the application’s Settings menu. From the Settings menu you can change the language Dexclock uses, choose if you want Dexclock to automatically launch at startup, if you want your regular wallpaper to be restored when you exit Dexclock, and if you want to see the Dexclock system tray icon.

Using Dexclock is a very straightforward matter: just select a wallpaper clock, choose its position (center, stretch, fill, things of the sort), and hit the Apply button. The application comes with 4 built-in wallpaper clocks that you can use – many more are available for download online on the vladstudio.com -website.

Dexclock is ad-supported. As mentioned above, you will be asked to install extra software during the Dexclock installation process. You can opt out if you don’t want any extras, then you can use Dexclock for free for as long as you want.
